Laundry Room Makeover

Since the Laundry room is where I spend the majority of my time.  I was really thinking I was in desperate need of a laundry room makeover.  Granted, we don't have a lot of extra funds and we are renting, it has to be something that is not permanent and it has to be an economical project.

Here are a couple of pics that I found that are too cute.  Some are not practical as far as everyday but definitely nice to look at.

This is actually doable minus the chandelier of course

This would really be cute too

And here is an actual picture of my laundry room.

Obviously the laundry room could use some more efficiency and also to look a little more aesthetically pleasing.

Tossing around some different ideas.  Sometimes just one shelf can make all the difference.  Will have to think how I can make it work more efficiently.

Hoping everyone has a great Friday!  :-)

By candlelight

Lately I have been finding myself more and more with my candles lit at night.  I absolutely love candles!! I also love the candle holders.

This is one of my favorites, a pair of hands holding a flame.  This holds a votive candle.

My favorite scent of candle right now is Ocean Star, it is a new scent put out by Yankee Candles.

I try and light these candles every day.  Yankee Candles had a pretty good deal, they were selling the votive candles for a $1.  Can't beat that!  I stocked up on a few.

Also, one last thing.  I was able to find this pretty cool drying mat for the dishes.  It was at Bed, Bath & Beyond and I love it!  Not only aesthetically pleasing with a dryer rack full of  dishes but it was only $7.99, people!  Great find!

That's about it.  Off to pick up my son from school!  Hope everyone has a great day!  :-)

Daily Devotion

Decided that at least once a week, I will devote my post to a bible verse and expand on it.  Following Jesus and living my daily life for him has always been something that I enjoy doing and always want to share it the best way that I know how.

"Draw close to God and he will draw close to you"  James 4:8

What this means to me is that if I read my bible, pray and seek after a relationship with Jesus that he will come closer to me and our relationship will be stronger.  I will see and feel him in everything.

Being distant from God is not a good feeling at all.  I do not like it.  And there are times that I have experienced distance from God.  It didn't feel good.

It's like having your best friend leave for a while and not hear from her, something is missing.  And you can feel that in your daily relationship with God when you don't spend the time with him that you should.

I love that old song, Jesus loves me this I know, because he does and he wants us to spend more time in his word so that we can live out all of the promises that are given to us in his daily word.

With that, I hope today is an awesome one!

Weekend!!!

We had such a beautiful weekend!!

Quick update on my Clinique experiment.  Been using a pore refiner for a few days now and I'm loving it!

Looks really good!  And my face feels so smooth.

Sueboo had a great time this weekend with a sleepover with a few friends.

Such a crazy girl!

With that have a happy fun filled day!  Hoping to get some things accomplished today after not accomplishing much after this weekend.

Happy Birthday Sue!

Today is my baby girls birthday!  She turns thirteen! Yay!!

Decorated her room for her special day!

Here she is this morning opening her gift.

Her special cake!  Hoping that she loves it!

Just a little small something I put together for her.  I made the same bucket for her girlfriends when they come over.  It has flavored lip balm, nail polish, scented hand sanitizer, click pencils and in Sue's bucket she has a best friend necklace that she can give to her bestie.

Hope she has a wonderful day full of special memories.  And maybe today she'll actually keep her smile all day (a parent can only hope) !  These teen years are really a bummer.  There is always one crisis or another with her and her girlfriends.  Keep it together girls, there are many more years to come!  :-)

Love Joyce Meyer!

I love Joyce Meyer, I love the encouragement she brings, the common sense perspective.  Everything!

Her personal story is moving and inspiring.  To hear where she came from and where she is now, on national TV sharing her story with millions of people.

If you havn't watched any of her morning TV shows, you should.  Great way to start the day!  :-)

Feels like Spring

These days it feels like Spring!  I have now adjusted to being a stay at home mom and I am really enjoying it this time around.  I have plenty to keep me busy and still have a lot of places to go and crafts to do coming up so I am excited about that.  Picked up a new yard flag!

Yesterday my sister stopped by and we spent a little time outside just chatting and visiting and we had a great time.  Got a little sun while we were lounging outside. An actual sunburn people, so early in the year.

I have the pictures in the wrong order, this was day two of the sunburn.  The pic from yesterday really shows the burn from sitting outside.

See the burn right up on the shoulder blade.  Crazy, crazy!  Would have never thought I would get a sunburn from being outside for slightly over an hour.  Geez!

In other news, we went out looking for a house the other day and I just can't wait to buy a home again.  We looked at a 3 bdrm with a pool and now I know our next home has to have a pool. That is just a prerequisite for sure.  A pool and interior floors that have tile.  Those are a must!

Have a birthday coming up for a certain little girl, have some plans that I am going to do for her special day!  Will post plenty of pics on Friday or after.

Make it a great one today!  Jesus Loves you!  :-)

Speechless in Volusia..ha!

Total randomness!  Life is so crazy sometimes that it just makes me laugh.  We had such a great weekend though.  Yesterday was President's day and we had the day off for a holiday.  Laid back for sure.

Here are some pics from my iPhone that I hadn't uploaded to my computer so here we go.

This was the outfit that I wore on our date for Valentine's Day.  I so wish I would have taken a picture of my sister and her date.  They went with us as well.

Here's the bottom part of my outfit.  Picked out these polka dot tights on a whim for colder weather days and I kinda like them!  ha!

I tried the side chignon once again and I liked it!  Although I do need to something with those bangs.

Here are the Godiva chocolates that my husband picked out for me.  I love them!

I was in desperate need of some foundation so at the Clinique counter this weekend, with any $27 purchase, there were about 5 additional items that you could receive for free.  They were all part of a bonus pack!  Loved it!

Love Day

First up, had a conference with my little guys teacher this mornings. Really concerned about his grades and being promoted to third grade next year.  Sounds like although he is slightly delayed he will be moving on.

Yesterday and today have been so chilly!!!  Which called for hot chocolate!  James loved the hot chocolate with marshmallows.

 Yummm!!!

This morning each of the kids had a valentine bag full of valentine treats.  Here's Susan with her new heart glasses and love bracelet.

Last but not least, here is a pic of my lil guy in "red" the true valentine spirit!

Add caption

Just for total fun, I told my kids everyday this week I would wear something red in lieu of Vday!  I made it almost every day..:-)

I've decided to caption my red and white striped shirt, my "where's waldo?" shirt…totally reminds me of the guy on the life cereal.  My glasses and all.  ha!
Hope everyone is having a great Valentines Day!!!!  :-)

Busy Day

Yesterday was a busy day!  First time trying yoga ever…and I must say I quite thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely go back again.  I have now tried the step sculpting class, yoga and I love them both! Yoga is more for elongating those muscles and endurance.  Step class is the cardio I need!

Here's a pic on my way to the gym.

After the gym I was able to run several errands and get some stuff done around the house.

Made a pretty quick meal.  My husbands favorite meal is Stroganoff so I was able to pick up a box of Kraft Beef Stroganoff for dinner.

One quick pic, my daughter had her second dance of the year at her school.  This is the dress that she picked out.

She had a great time!  Sounds like they did a few dance offs and other things so she had a ball!

With that, I am out.  Time to start my day!  :-)

Is it worth talking about?

What if you were going through a personal crisis that you were keeping to yourself but somehow word got out to other people and through gossip or what not about your situation, somehow everyone knew what was going on in your personal life?   What I have personally learned is that people are more than willing to share their personal views but ask very little questions in return to find out the truth or validity of the information.  You have to learn to just take it in, their concern, their advice but know that the whole story has not been given to them so the opinion that they may form is based off of very little information and not straight from the source.

What do you do when the support system at the church fails because of judgmental, hypocritical attitudes overtaking the people?  This is a hard one because when a church structure fails, then it is hard to know where to turn.  I think in the back of your mind you just have to know that the church is not the end all, be all.  These are people trying to interpret their thoughts the best they know how with guidance through the holy spirit.  Obviously with God's leading.  When someone gives you advice, pray about it and make sure that it registers with your spirit too.

Who do you look too or where do you turn for help? Speaking with a pastor is the best route to go.  A pastor doesn't become a pastor without a proven relationship with God so to speak to a person who is pretty tight and speaks often to God is a good way to go and feel pretty confident with his advice.  Although I did not personally take my own advice, looking back it would have made my situation a lot easier and smoother.  Also, talk straight to God!  It may seem like such a "go-to" answer but you have to.  It may not be today or tomorrow or a week from now that you see God's grace unfolding but hold on to the truth that it will happen eventually.  During that time is when you see all other fruits of the spirit unfolding.  Love, peace, patience, self-control, and so many other things.

The only sure thing that has been proven solid over time, is God's love!  Always seek him first in everything!  :-)

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Matt 6:33.  When everything fails, Gods word will never change!

On a different note:

Here is a quick pic of my sister and her new Dog. Now her name has been changed to Dixie.  Cute little dog.  It is called a Cha-wini….A mix between a chihuahua and a weiner dog…hilarious name/breed!

I am so missing the warmer days of summer!  Here is a picture of a day at the beach.  We had such a great time by the pool and can not wait to go back again this year.

With that, make it a great day people!  :-)

Visit to the Clinique counter!

Today I had a slight makeover at the clinique counter.  It was great and definitely proves to me that I need to wear foundation a lot more.  I had mentioned in a previous post that my pores were becoming more and more visible as I age and I really didn't think wearing foundation would cover it that much but it does.  So note to self, take the time and invest in some foundation!  The coverage was nice and even and did not look overdone and after the foundation was applied, my face didn't feel oily one bit.  Felt very soft and dry to the touch, which in this case, feeling dry is ok.

Here is an after picture with foundation and dry powder on.

I wish you could see it a little closer.  Unfortunately, you can't see the foundation up close.    But what you can see is even coverage and smoother looking skin. Also, apparently I have a permanent mustache.  Looks like a darker pigmentation on my upper lip which is interesting.  ha!

I thought I would post a picture of a cute, cute outfit I saw in a magazine today.  The companies name is Venus and I have never heard of the company.  I received the catalog in the mail today so thought I would take a peek.  I love this outfit and several other items in the catalog.  Definitely should check it out if you havn't already.

Although the outfit would look a lot better on someone that is about 50 pounds lighter than me, I still love it!  Perfect for spring or summer.

Guilty Pleasure Friday

3 words - iced latte Friday!!  That's my little tradition I have been doing for years now.  Love my French vanilla iced lattes from Dunkin donuts.

I also found a pretty cool dessert today too!  Ben & Jerry's now have a Greek yogurt.  So, sooooo good!  Only 190 calories per serving

Both my sister and I love this perfume!  It's just a subtle scent that's not too strong.  It's made by Coach and it's called Poppy.

Also this fragrance is worth checking out too.  Happened to pass this scent on the way out and so glad I stopped to give it a sniff.  Love it!

Lots of things on the wish list!

From Trash to Treasure

Here are some yardsale finds that I love!  I am a yard saler, thrift shop, goodwill shopping kinda gal.  I don't care if it used or not I can find a way to use it.

The first picture is supposed to be focusing on the chair (that I found on the side of the road)  someone was throwing it away.  It happened to match my set perfectly.  Granted, close up the fabric needs to be cleaned and the wood has a few chips missing but otherwise great find on the side of the road for free!

The next find is of a black mirror.  I purchased this mirror for only $10 at a yardsale here in our subdivision.  It is just a basic black square wooden mirror.  It matches the rest of the room perfectly though. My living and dining room both have black curtains and black accents so this fit right in.

Don't mind the picture on the floor.  Had to take it down to put up the black mirror.
This stool I found at Goodwill. They were selling it for $8 so I just had to buy it.  I tend to use it for my lil guys to do their homework on.  I do still hope to find the other match to it!  Makes it difficult only having one stool.  A great deal though!  Definitely some good finds at the Goodwill.

Biggest Loser Challenge

I'm getting straight to the point - Did anybody see the Biggest Loser Challenge?

The girl who won looked like she was slightly anorexic.  I can not imagine that NBC was happy with that.  You want a contestant to look like she is healthy, energetic while attaining this massive weight loss.  She looked like she had either taken weight loss enhancers or metabolife or something like that.  She looked unhealthy.

What is interesting is the fact that she used to be an athlete, a swimmer to be exact so she knows what she needs to do to stay healthy.

Just in shock of it all.  Bob and Jillian looked stunned but she claims she lost the weight in a healthy way and she has no regrets.

Congratulations to her!  I think she won in the excess of $250,000.  I'd take that!!

My sister

Wanted to take today to post about my sister.  Love her very much and don't know what I would do without her in my life. Not everyone understands me, like my sister does.

When we were younger, my mother used to dress us in matching clothes and everyone thought we were twins.  We outgrew that shortly after 5th grade.  lol

I wish I didn't look so darn grumpy in this picture!

You don't always get the opportunity to tell family members how much they mean to you.

She's always been the person that I go to as a sounding board, confidante, friend, someone who totally understands me inside and out.

I do love her very much and take heart in knowing that no matter what we will always be sisters.

No matter if we are having a good day or a bad day, that she is there and can always just call her up and talk about things that I need to get off of my mind.

Thank you Lord for blessing me with a sister.  The one constant thing in my life. During the storms, through the calm times, she always remains my sister.
